At Cura Club, a student-driven innovation hub at the German University in Cairo (GUC), I initially contributed as a Technical Committee member and now serve as Technical Head, leading multiple disciplines to develop a functional EMG-controlled prosthetic arm.
The club focuses on assistive technologies to improve accessibility and empower individuals with limb differences.
My Role & Contributions:
𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫:
-Fabricated and integrated an in-house Myo band EMG sensor.
-Implemented embedded firmware for microcontrollers to acquire EMG data.
𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 (𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞):
-Lead a multidisciplinary team across EMG & Signal Processing, AI/Deep Learning, Mechanical Design, and Electronics & Firmware.
-Oversee integration of sensors, AI models, mechanical prototypes, and control systems.
-Define development strategy, timelines, and technical milestones for real-time gesture-based prosthetic control.
-Ensure project scalability, safety, and usability, bridging hardware, software, and end-user needs.
